Okay here, pageant questions like that are absolute. They should only be answered by a yes or a no.
Yes, I will change.....to marry...because...
or
No, I won't change.....just to marry...because...
There should be no we'll-meet-halfway bullshit or we-can-probably-compromise crap..
Miss Philippines: "If I had to change my religious beliefs, I will not marry the person that I love because the first person that I love is God, who created me. And I have my faith, my principles, and this is what makes me who I am. And if that person loves me, he should love my God too."
Her answer was Catholic-y which made all the descendants of Adam and Eve who were taught that the love of/for GOd is the ultimate love, hurray with pride. But that's it. What about the Muslims?? the Zoastrians?? the Buddhists?? the Atheists?? How about the rest of the universe?? What did they think about her answer??
So let's say she answered "Yes, I will change.....to marry...because..."
What would the Christian community have to say then?? What if all the judges there were Christians?? Surely, there's no way she'll win with that answer.
So you see, her answer wasn't incorrect. It wasn't just convincing enough for the judges..and the rest of the universe.
But to heck with the rest of th universe, only the judges were counting points so let's just say that the "because" part of her answer wasn't enough for the judges. As always, the secret in answering a Yes-or-No/Why-and-Why-Not question always lie in the "because" portion of the answer.
**I know a lot of debater friends who could answer that very same question with either a YES or a NO in a more convincing way.
But personally if you ask me, with her answer, she should've won..:)
My point: She was asked about her personal religious belief, so relative to her belief, her answer was correct and to the point
There. That made me blog again. ^_^
P.S.
I know I've promised to update this blog every week but AN AWFUL LOT (yeah, in caps..and bold too) has been going on lately. Been too confused. Been too busy. Been too lazy. So sue me.
The only reason I'm blogging right now is because I'm procrastinating. And I've been feeling crappy all day so I'm not in the mood to work on any task tonight.

yeah!...that was helluva good point! I'm with you sister, Ms. Philippines should've really won that Ms. Universe crown! Other than the answering-question thingy, there were a heck lot of other good points compared to those ahead of her (like the fact that she used the universal language, or that she was the only one who has a "straight to the point" answer and all that)...
Oh well, we're not the judges of the pageant...
P.S.
lah...'procastinating'?...the typo error bothers me....^_^
